I have a Male friend who's 27 years old, same age as me and he sucks his thumb. What R your opinions on that??

Actually, this is not any more bizarre than the things we do not see and for which if seen would present great difficulty if required to present a solution.

So he sucks his thumb, ay? Therefore what? Witness the spectacle of accomplished mummers who mask theirs, the likes of people who in the privacies and empties of their lives host 'their' inner demons that would be better left asleep and often are -- but theirs are often affectations, a bridling, not a balancing or resolution and eradication of their plagues.

Many such conditions as your friend's do not resolve because there often exists no safe medium or trust through which a person can feel safe to first ground the problem as to avail the means to prompt a burn-off of the energies that sustain it. Americans in particular are a coltish, burlesque lot. And one can scarcely find fault in anyone protecting oneself from scorn and demeaning banter.

I would have more concern for those who dare judge his habit, -- because what he has and does is not a commentary on some unmanifested criminal behavior but simply some aspect he has yet to dissolve, -- a quirk, a mere glitch, say, and as with any glitch, it can be corrected.

Therefore, you need only see his as but a mere workshop for which there are some implements of habit that might be better applied to what he now displays. Leave the deep-set root to those who are trained to work with this, say, some professional -- but when all said and done, it is he who has the solution. So do bear temperance and above all discussion with him if he so allows this: communication is one of the greatest of all therapists and healers and does not cost anyone even one copper penny.

Now -- so far as he does not resolve to confront this and this bothers you, then you do have the great recourse as a free and sovereign woman: you may leave. Know that his is not your mission to berate nor is anyone's for their respective deficits or lacking.

Bear in mind most of all, you said he is your "Friend." 'That is a powerful declaration... Are you?, is what you must ask yourself. The ball is in your court as well as in his, for nothing exists in a void.

We need only look into ourselves to see much is there yet to be brought to balancing. And 'that' perspective and the effort that parallels it is indeed a high economy writ large.

Wow. That's weird. Maybe look it up, google "grown man sucks thumb" and see if you pull back any results. Insecurity issues? Hard to say...

Oh my gosh!!! This guy has major issues. There is something very wrong with that. It's weird for a 27 yr old to suck their thumb. I would be very embarrassed to be around him. He needs help with a therapist.

You should ask him what his Thumb tastes like.

He never got past the oral fixation when he was a baby.

He's got some pretty big "Shoes"...some E-Shoes..(issues).

Next thing you'll find out is that he has a shrine with pictures of you in a hidden nook in the basement.

I am 34 and I pee the bed, it excites men and keeps them warm like a tropical burst of water in the winter.. there is no shame in a man sucking his thumb...is he single?

this is an addiction....it can cause a lot of dental and gum problems. He needs to talk to a doctor or counselor to find a way to help him stop.

he does it while he's awake? I sometimes find myself waking up with my thumb in my mouth, and used to do it as a child...

he might have some anxiety whitch i have but some cases are more than others or maybee he just wants to get in touch with his inner kid. i find nothing wrong with that at all and my friend says hi
