What on earth is wrong with my rat?!?

Okay, okay, first of all he is a 7 week old Rex Rat. I asked another question about his eyes, in every photo he has one red one black eye. A lot of people said that that is common in rats. So is his urinating area look like it's bleeding common? Every now and again it looks like he's crying tears of blood and sneezing bloody mucus, but today it looked like he was bleeding down low. Is this normal? And please don't just say "idk" just to get points, I need to know! Here are a couple pictures of his red eyes.

Please help me, I'm not trying to sound rude, I just don't want him to die... My dad says the eye thing could be a cataract or even a tumor! :( PLEASE HELP!!

Update:

Sorry, the site cut off here it is again:

Update 2:

Update 3:

Ok, the "bleeding" stoped in his urinating area. But still, what about the eyes? And his bloody mucus??

As you have requested I have come to see if I can help you.

Your rat's eyes are perfectly normal. Genetically he is an Odd-eyed rat. There are many odd-eyed rats and they are perfectly normal.

    http://search.yahoo.com/search?search=Odd-eyed+rat...

As for the blood in his urine, this means he has a bladder infection and it will require a vet check and antibiotics to clear it up.

    http://ratguide.com/health/urinary_renal/urinary_t...

Only FEMALE rats get genital mycoplasmosis and it's not blood in their urine, it's blood coming from the uterus. Painful and deadly.

Since your vet is full you can try a holistic approach with a homeopathic remedy, bought at your health food store, for renal conditions. E-mail me back if you want to know what this remedy is. Remember, just because you use the remedy doesn't mean you forego a vet, it just gives you more time because urinary infections are painful.

"Bloody mucus" (porphyrin) around the eyes and nose is an indication of stress and he is stressed because of the bladder infection.

    http://search.yahoo.com/search?search=porphyrin+in...

If there is an excessive amount of porphyrin production and excessive sneezing, he may have Mycoplasmosis and this needs to be seen by a vet for treatment.

BTW, your boy is gorgeous. I only say this because I too have a blue rex boy.

    Edit:

There is an issue with links no longer working in questions and answers. It is a bug that the team says they are aware of and they are currently in the process of fixing. You're going to have to e-mail me personally at spazrats@yahoo.ca so I may give you the info you need.

This looks like it could be a case of Mycoplasmosis which has infected the genitals of your rat.

http://www.rmca.org/Articles/myco.htm There is an article explaining symptoms and treatment.

The red around his eyes and nose is porphyrin and not blood.

My youngest rat Tiny, has been on antibiotics for Myco, he has never had the porphyrin staining, but he has sneezing fits and raspy breathing. That is Myco that has infected the lungs and nasal passages.

If you can't get into a vet right away, you may want to call down, explain your situation and ask if you can get a prescription for a broad spectrum antibiotic without a checkup. If not, I guess you will have to wait.

Sorry for your luck, but Myco is carried in almost all rats and only under certain conditions does it flare up and cause problems.

    Good luck.

ok, so your vet is fully booked. phone them up and tell them this is an emergency, there's something seriously wrong with your rat, explain the problem. im sure they would fit you in.

failing that, then surely you must have another vet nearby.

bleeding from those areas is really serious. although i dont actually know what it could be!.im really sorry, this must be very worrying for you.

find another vet and say that you really need to get in. the red stuff is poryphrin, rat mucus, excessive amounts isn't good. just get to a vet. they will give you something to fix it

I would take your rattie to the vet ASAP. This could be a sign of a severe infection.
