Since there is the UNCF can there be a UWCF?

Actually, David Duke started the NAAWP back in the 80s as an 'answer' to the NAACP. It's the usual claptrap, but let's put that aside for a moment...

Nobody's stopping you from forming a white group, or setting up a college fund for white students. Go for it! But don't be surprised when not a lot of people follow you. There are a couple of reasons for this:

- Most white people don't identify themselves culturally by the colour of their skin. For most whites, that doesn't make any sense. They identify themselves culturally more by the region of their ancestors. So while there might not be many "white" groups out there, there are plenty of Irish, German, Italian, Polish etc. organizations. Most black folks take these groups for what they are: people celebrating their common heritage, of which they have absolutely no problem with. While I'm white, I don't identify my roots with a white fellow who's Dutch or Swedish. The language, art, music and customs are different than mine and while I welcome their cultural contributions, I don't share that heritage simply because our skin colour is the same.

- The second and more fundamental reason is that Duke's NAAWP has an agenda that most people of every race are uncomfortable with. Most white folks don't give a toss about the 'purity' of the white race. Most white folks want ethnic diversity taught in schools, especially today in an increasingly global society. Many white folks just don't see the "threat" of special interest minority groups, because that threat doesn't exist.

I consider the NAAWP racist because they are trying to deny the existence of non-white people in shaping society. I've never heard of the NAACP trying to ban St. Patrick's Day or remove European history from classrooms, because the NAACP doesn't have a problem with it, but white groups are furious over Martin Luther King Day and Caeser Chavez Day. All the NAACP wants is everyone to understand that it doesn't end there, that ethnic minorities of all stripes have a voice and should be able to express it in the public arena. Great! The more the merrier. Why is that such a threat? How am I not benefiting from this?

The NAACP accepts, and encourages membership from all races. Would David Duke's wingnuts do the same?

Yeah, because, us white people have never gotten any breaks. I mean, come on, in the history of the United States, tell me, how have white people benefited? I mean, look at how few white presidents we've had, how few white supreme court justices we have had, how few white senators we have had, how few white college graduates we've had.... Man, there just isn't a proportionate number of white people in Forbes top 500 richest people, are there? Gee, being a member of the most populous ethnic group in the United States sure sucks because....most programs are designed for the "average citizen" which tips the scales towards whites. It sure is tough for us whites.

Give me a break. Failure to recognize the importance of the UNCF and NAACP shows ignorance towards the historical inequalities of America's past and how that still affects the present. As a white person your rights are already taken care of. Your ability to get into college or have social and economic mobility has never be prevented solely because of your skin pigmentation. Organizations like these ensure that our dream of freedom and justice for ALL American citizens, not just for those who are in the ethnic group with the greatest population, is realized.

I am not prejudice but wonder why, NAACP is an organizations that only whites can NOT use I checked it out my self. All others of color can use it. Well white is a color! If you look on the color palate it is included. Why is it we have to separate our selves? WE are all human. IF an organization can exclude people then they should not complain if others exclude them. Yet all I hear today is this or that is Whites are prejudice and no blacks. It is wrong. anyone of any color can be prejudice. WE should all join together and help one another and stop all this racist speech.

the person asking this question knows what you talking about. He just wants to pile on another black question before the day is out. He knows that the NAACP and UNCF were originally formed when blacks were disenfranchised. He can't be that shortsighted...

It's only common sense and I just can't understand why this question is asked over and over again.

White people never really needed it. These organizations were created at a time where blacks were automatically denied such things. We made our own. Now, instead of scrapping these institutions, we decided to keep them. And do you honestly think that White people can not go to HBCU's?
