Have you ever heard of Eritrea?

How come I never heard of that country?

It borders Ethiopia in East Africa.

Update:

Thank you AlvaR0 L and johnz1363 for an honest answer.

(and Stelluci…no, I’m no an American)

Update 2:

I was watching "Jeopardy" which is a show I love and I'm pretty good at it so I'm not that stupid...the answer was..."these two countries in East Africa border each other (first letter E)".

I thought Ethiopia, of course, but could not come up with the second one...Eritrea...WTF never heard of it before. Sounds like a medical condition about the urethra.

Maybe I only hear about countries having genocide and/or Brangelina!!!

Update 3:

I think there are 54 countries in Africa.

Yes, and I don't know why you've never heard of that country other than the fact that people aren't aware of a lot of the different countries in Africa.

Honestly, I have never heard of it until I read your question and Googled it! Thanks...my day has been worthwhile since I just learned something new!

To all those people above me.....give me a break....most of you have never heard of it either! Oh, and for those anti-American remarks - I would put my knowledge of geography up against yours any day!!

  • It's known as the leading jailer of journalists in Africa - - I guess that's why it isn't in the news much.

I've heard of it. My dad's cousin's wife is from there. It's kind of a small country.

    Probably because you're American.

Americans know the least about the rest of the world when it comes to geography.
