Is it time for a sectarian UK?
After the comments of the Arch Bishop of Canterbury regarding developing the UK laws to include some elements of Sharia Law, isn't it time we actually went the other way and completely seperated religion from all laws of the UK - whilst maintaining a constitutional right to freedom of religion.
Oops - thank PhoneJacker - I did mean secular. Oh how foolish I feel now!

I must admit that I was horrified when I heard the Archbishop's comments on last night's news.
Further to your question, I have NEVER understood what religion has to do with law anyway, so yes, I do think that it is time we went the other way and separated religion from the laws of the United Kingdom.
Religion is, or should be, a private thing.

The UK is supposedly a religious state, because the Queen is the head of the church. The US is a secular state because the Church is not part of the state. Which one seems to be divided most by religion?
Any US administration has to crawl into bed with the evangelists, or the Jewish or the Mormons. No-one in Britain really cares about what the Christian right think. Maybe the best way of keeping people ignoring the Church is to keep it as part of the state.

As far as I am concerned all laws should be repelled they are only a way of controlling the masses as a money making process and keeping the privileged few in their seats of power. If the masses were in control of keeping order there wouldn't be much criminality due to the people handing out proper justice, there would be no cosy prison cells and no fines. Anarchy and Freedom is what I want. As for your question having two sets of laws one for us and one for the followers of islam will only open up every citizen from another country wanting there laws brought in then we really will not know where we stand, as a believer in anarchy would I be allowed to not recognise anybodys laws or invent my own and live by them. I don't think so!

The way things are going if you are a law abiding citizen of the UK you forfeit any rights you have. The only way to get anything now is to convert to chavism or islam and you get all handed to you on a plate.

In way of thinking, Britain is a secular state ie the example that was mentioned prevoisly of no one caring what christains think, and coupled with the fact that no one goes to church.

if you come to Britain you abide by the laws,,,you know weather you are breaking the law,,,,it has taken years to get this far with are laws ,why change everything for people you do not like it,,, lots of things i disagree with in the laws of today ,if you start that where does it end

YES, why should something so non-existant as religion have any affect on our law?
