is there a way to connect from my computer at home to another one in the same house?

we have 2 computers but would like to get files from my computer to the other one. they are both connected to a router and share the same internet. any ideas or suggestions . thanks in advance.

    You could also just transfer them via aim or msn file-sharing, though they take a pretty long time to transfer. But that's going to be the case with any internet sharing.

    Honestly, the fastest, easiest way is the old-school CD/Pen drive transfer.

    Add the Microsoft File and Print sharing service on one or both computers. Then right-click on the folder(s) you want to share, choose sharing, and then give it a share name. From the other machine, you can connect to that share using either \\<machinename>\<sharename> or \\<IP>\<sharename>. If prompted for an account, use the credentials <computername>\<username>

    if your running windows. Then you can go into control panel -> my network places -> run the network setup wizard (should be on the left hand side of the window).

    Doing this properly on both computers will allow you to access files from one to the other.

    However before you can share the folder/drive. You have to rightclick the folder and set the sharing properties (just a security feature)
