Ford Focus with water leak...what do I do now?
I have a 2004 Ford Focus that has a water leak in several places on the interior of the car. Everything I am reading online explains a problem on the passenger side floor, but I have water coming in on the drivers side floor (I can watch it run down the inside of the car near where you would pop the hood) and around the interior light on the ceiling. I have had it to my mechanic twice already....it's going back for a third time on Monday. The first time they thought it was the windshield and resealed it, but it just made it worse. The second time around they replaced the windshield, but it keeps happening. I don't know what to do...and I can't seem to find anyone who does. Any help would be really appreciated!
The water is coming in whether it is raining, snowing or nothing at all. I live in the northeast and there has been a lot of rain, snow and melting over the last several weeks.
Yesterday, the sun was out but it was below freezing and when I went out to my car at lunch it was running in.

A dealer service department can print out a list of service issues with your vehicle this would include service bulletins and "silent recalls" along with the regular recalls. With the Focus, this will be a long list........
I would bet that your problem is related to one of them.
I've had the obligatory 5 gallons of water in the passenger footwell, so you have my sympathy (I fixed that one myself - don't trust the dealer techs as far as I can kick them).

You have the Dome light at the center of the Roof Panel, Right? Sounds like it could be a "Factory Defect"! The Seams in the Roof Panel could be Cracked and leaking. That's the only water is going to get to the Dome Light.

New weatherstripping might do the trick, or if the weatherstripping is still good, you may need to take the car to a body shop and have the doors and windows realigned. If your car is a convertable, they are notorious for leaking around the seals and weatherstrips.

Don't take it to a mechanic... take it to a glass company, that does windshield installations. It needs to be completely pulled out, and resealed. Good Luck!

Something coming in from around the windshield area or the rear and running up front

your car interior is NOT shielded from the elements. Make sure all your seals around the windows are OK. you should take it to some company that deals with windscreens etc

Have your mechanic check under the cowling (underneath) the wiper transmission. There could be a hole that's allowing water to come inside from there.

Get a new car, pronto! You're only going to get about 2k at trade in and that's in mint condition.
Focus' aren't very reliable to begin with, and you'd probably be better off to put your money into a new car
