What is it that triggers the crossing of the line between a religious belief and the Reality of truth?

I want to get acquainted to that pinpoint of understanding where people believe one thing(lets say the Noahs Ark story) and suddenly feel compelled to begin believing in another truth(lets say the fact that Noahs Ark was not even big enough to hold all the millions of animals;insects,mammals,reptiles....)

I want that simple word or feeling that you may have experienced when you crossed the line from religion to reality of Life.

You see.... I went through this and want to relate to some real people who crawled their way out of religion....

Jesus....He is ALWAYS the correct answer.

BTW, the number of species were only a few hundred in Noahs day...and half of that lived in the ocean. Remember, he started the ark when he was a little over one hundred, and finished when he was 500...he lived to be 900 and something...in the days before God shortened man's life to 120 max. It's all in the book of Genesis.

And if we could all really understand how and why God does what he does, we would have the mind of God, but we don't...and since we don't we take what we can't comprehend on FAITH...Why? Jesus, that's why...:')

You mention real people who crawled their way out of religion..what about real people like me that jumped into religion from being a non believer? Have you read the Bible? Can you honestly say you found no truth or beauty in it? The word I find that describes my "crossing" is JOY.

Noah's Ark did not have to hold every variation, but only two of every kind. Also they did not have to be full grown either. This makes it a very real possiblity.

I'm at a crossroads. God is said to be merciful and forgiving. But God also tortures unbelievers for an eternity with fires and all kinds of methods of torture that only the world's sickest sadists could possibly enjoy. God knows all, so God knows we were created to be tortured eternally. Somehow reconciling this with a God of good or mercy is difficult for me.

your first point is noah"s ark story second is --it wasn"t big enough.

in those circumstances it was good enough to accomodate and save as many as possible--religions are basically ships and carriers
