In NYC the weather in July is pretty warm. Actually, it's not as warm as in August so July is a good time of the month to be here. By the way, NYC is great to visit anytime! I suggest you to go to the Rockefeller Center. It is really cool and fun to be in there, you would enjoy the shops, museums, and the city itself. I also would suggest you to visit Time Square, and Broadway Theater. There are awesome areas and places in New York City. You will love it! Enjoy!

New York can be hot and humid in July, but it isn't necessarily so. So long as you plan for the "Three H's" (hazy, hot and humid), you'll be fine. If it turns out to be breezy and mild, then it will just be a bonus!
"Preparing" is simple: Bring lightweight clothing, and when planning your schedule of activities, include venues that are air conditioned: Museums are a must in New York, and the summer is a great time to see them. Likewise, traditional sites like the Empire State Building are fun, and they likewise are air conditioned.
But don't be afraid of the heat! Unless you have serious health conditions, enjoy the great outdoors in all it's hot, balmy glory! Central Park is fantastic in the summer -- you'll see literally hundreds of folks playing ball, listening to music, and working on their tans. Plus, there are lots of free concerts in the park in July, as well as FREE Shakespearean productions at the Delacort Theater (I saw Meryl Streep there two years ago in "Mother Courage).
I also recommend the WaterTaxi during warmer months. One price buys you an all-day pass, and you can whisk from the West Village, out to the Statue of Liberty, up to South Street Seaport . . . and around and round all day. It's a great way to cool off and see some of NYC's more important sites, and it's even better when it's hot out.
Have fun! You'll be in the greatest city in the universe, so don't let a little heat bother you!
Enjoy our fair city!

Actully I was up there on March 17th 3 years ago nearly 4 and saw some of the guys in their kilts. Course I was in a bus tour and saw them walking. You need to see a broadway play for sure. I saw Phathom of the Opera, was great. Dont forget to go to China Town, see Statue of Liberty. Oh there's so much to see that I would love to go back and stay for a couple of weeks. All of our group went down where they have the Today Show and that was great. Nearly froze but had a good time. Walked down Times Square which was quite interesting. Central park was big and different.

Hot any where from 85 to 100 degrees. Sometimes we get a lot of rain in July.

Good luck and happy travels

Yes, it can be very mild around 70-90 degree. Last summer it was major disaster when major heatwave occured and at Queens had suffered blackout on that heat wave day.
So make sure to buy water when you get to Big Apple by flight because you cannot take into security gate at your airport.
