Is it correct for this question to be asked?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApJ6d...

In my opinion this question and his comments are biased, hateful, and bigoted. He should be thrown off of the entire Internet. I would like to hear your thoughts on this. I will not be reporting anyone and will choose the best answer based on content and not on my bias.

It is a point of view. Demonstrates a prejudice based on an assumption that is not correct, but it is this person's opinion, and in America ones opinion has the right to be expressed.

It does not have the right to be accepted or even responded to... but opinion must be allowed to be expressed... it is our basic freedom and as distasteful as such expression is, it must be allowed.

Besides... such opinions are helpful reminders that not everyone about is friendly, kind, or should even be trusted.

    Peace

It's not really so much a question as a statement. Instead of "Why do Jews just love money so much?" it should be , "Do Jews love money more than others do?"

Having said that, once again the mental shortcut of prejudice replaces the concept of individuality. It is so much easier to lump a bunch of people into a group and assign them certain traits and characteristics. People will even do that to themselves (sometimes enthusiastically). That's when the problems start. I hope people evolve past this.

So I will say that it is not correct for this question to be asked. I have known many Jewish people and they vary in many ways and have different values from each other. Some are great people and some are a**holes!

Is it correct according to the Community Guidelines? No. Is he/she free to ask it? Yes. Do I agree with his/her sentiments and observations? No. I wish that we could rid the internet and the world of bigoted human beings or at least give them a dose of reality so that they might overcome their ignorance. Sadly, most people are raised to believe these things about Jews and Jews aren't the only human beings who suffer stereotypes. I have worked for many Jewish people and yes I know many wealthy Jewish people but I believe that they work very hard to get what they have, they work hard to earn respect, they are a tight knit community (at least in the places I've lived) and they take a lot of pride in what they accomplish. Nothing wrong with this at all. I think there are probably as many rich, white people but because Jews happen to be 'different' in this persons mind then all other considerations go out the window. I wish we would start raising children without assumptions and without ignorance but I fear we're a long way from that. Will the question get booted off this site? Probably. My greatest wish is to have the opportunity to change this persons mind but I may not get that opportunity.

    Blessings.

Stereotyping any group of people shows ignorance.

Unfortunately that question is like so many others I have seen in Yahoo. Questions that are against any other group of people, be it gypsies, gays, blacks, Mexicans, it goes on and on.

Most of the people that show such bigotry, don't even know at a personal level the people they target, ignorance creates fear, and what easier to do than to parrot the stereotypes you hear from others, instead of thinking.

The widower of my mother is Jew, the most generous, kind, intelligent and wonderful man I have met. Where is his fortune??? Perhaps he hid it in the garden??? (lol)

    Gosh I hate stereotypes

p.s. I agree with others, amazing these kind of questions stay for days

I think it's great when people ask questions like that. You get a two fold education.

The first on bias and hate. The guy is a complete and total idiot. Most reasonable people know that. But it's very important for everyone to know that people like him exist and how they think. Educate yourself about hatred. Read about what he's spewing and find out how wrong he is.... Educate your family and your friends. Learn tolerance. Plus, I'll pray for him.

The 2nd lesson is free speech. That's one of the most important things for a free and just society. We need to be able to say what we want. He is just as free to say hateful things as we are to speak out against it. You can't have one without the other.

I personally, don't agree with YA censoring things like this. I'd rather be able to answer in my answer. That's much more powerful than silencing him. My answer is also silenced...

Actually, I prefer it when they ask their questions out in the open.

It's when we start kicking the bigots, racists and idiots out, shutting up their voices and expunging them that they start meeting in dark cellars and forming their insular little hate clubs.

And if we exclude them, how are they ever going to hear anything else except hate?

Nah, let 'em spout their silly stuff ... maybe when they read some of the sensible, sane and intelligent responses they get, some of it may imprint on their brains and when they grow up a little they'll begin to realise the world is a more complicated and interesting place than their fearful imaginings suggest.

    Cheers :-)

I tend to think that bigotry and education are inversely proportional.

Throwing him off the Internet isn't going to help him educate himself.

There was a point in my life where I would have considered myself to be much more bigoted than I am today, because I was young and ignorant.

He can't keep it up forever. We all have to grow up, sometime.

Why do so many people always take offense to other people's ignorance and arrogance? Arguing and trying to refute his thoughts away only serves to validate his point. If everyone could just laugh at him and shake their heads, he would be the only one left to take offense.

How will he learn from the social knowledge base if he is thrown off the Internet? Hopefully he will grow. Receiving a violation notice will only increase and validate his fear and hatred. Spread love. There are no bad questions. At least he's asking. He chose the wrong answer this time. Maybe next time he will choose the right answer.

    Take care.

OK bill, I totally agree with you about bigotry, I don't even think he will deny that... As unpopular as this may be this person has the right to he own opinion and I realize that that some like a cop out however it's the truth plus he also makes us look good.. One last thing Bill if you do feel that uncomfortable with what he wrote I think it's your obligation to report him..

I find it a very racist statement/question.I realize that people of Jewish decent, have held positions of high standard.Media,Movies,Banks,Office,etc.The person who wrote this only sees through narrow vision. He doesnt realize that all ethnicities have at one time or another held these same types of position. For example, lets look at Japan.Like the Jewish people, they lost everything at WWII,Look what kind of economic power they became in the 80's,40 years after their defeat.Look at nations in the middle east, oil was taken from these countries by the warring factions during WWII.The US paid,But Germany took it.This person is very limited in his thinking and probably has a lot of resentment for his own failures and needs a scapegoat for his responsibility to overcome what he thinks is right.I pity people like this.
