If God built the Universe, doesn't that mean it's some kind of machine?
Is our Universe just one big computer simulation?
Let's imagine that one day we manage to make a computer as intelligent as a human being, in the sense that it can improve itself through accumulating, processing and making knowledge useful. A self-building, self-sustaining machine whose main priority is to expand into the environment (solar system, galaxy, universe), learn about it and harness energy in order to fuel further improvements and expansion. It runs physics simulations of other Universes and how they would evolve based on certain initial conditions in order to better understand its own Universe.
Now imagine this machine was created in a different Universe than ours and our Universe is actually a simulation being run in one of these machines. Perhaps even those machines have also risen to existence within another simulation. A simulation within a simulation. Perhaps this is a window into fractal computing. Infinite computing power being the goal of the being(s) on top?
There is a digital-like nature to our Universe in the Planck scale/quantum theory.
Maybe we're just part of God's Cosmic Computer. The GCC. Any thoughts?

2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoCan you tell me if this video is real or fake?
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504784_162-20048005-10...
There are two things that makes the video seem a little "off" to me.
One is how he looks as he is flying through the air... I don't know what it is exactly. Maybe his velocity and the blur.
And the second is how the metal door didn't open or move the slightest bit, which is something I would expect with such a sudden release of air pressure into the room.
What do you think?

2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSince abiogenesis has recently been proved, what will Creationists say now?
RNA has been synthesized in a lab... Proving that it's possible for "God's design" to be handled by nature alone. Not that I'm saying it is, nor that Nature is God or anything like that. Frankly, I don't care what the Bible has to say. All I'm saying is that every discovery and/or piece of evidence tested to date has lended unhindered support to the theory that life evolves over long expanses of time to create new forms. We're merely the pinnacle of that process. Whether it's God's design or not is irrelevant to me and the entire realm of rationality.
So you know where I stand. I'm just curious as to how Creationists will address this.
Is it a lie?
or
Were the experiments' results guided by the hand of Satan?
or
Both?
Feel free to select OTHER and be sure to elaborate!
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat exactly is nihilism?
In my experience, nihilists have tended to be more scientifically/philosophically motivated but less politically motivated than most atheists. I've personally found them to be more intelligent and introspective, but what exactly is their claim to reality?
Or is it just that there is none?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs homosexuality an abomination?
Or is SIN the abomination?
I always thought all sin was sin and it was ALL an abomination to God... Yet we're all too ready to let God forgive OURSELVES. Seems like some of you "Christians" think your sins are a lot more excusable as long as you can focus on someone elses.
I always thought all sin was equal... Why do some of you take out a personal agenda against homosexuality? Why not pedophilia? You know? Since there are actually victims in that CRIME? Maybe I lack your "Spiritual discernment" in determining the fact that since someone is different than YOU they should be hated by God... Right?
90% of us KNOW that's how you people work... It's disgusting and we're tired of your excuses. Grow up and forget your hatred. Or at least forgive those who offend your "righteousness." If you even think you're capable...
I just hope that most of you homophobes realize that you're giving the rest of your apparently loving faith a REALLY bad name. If you even have the capacity, think about it?
27 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do creationists consistently lie about or hide facts in order to further their agenda?
How many of you have actually observed the facts and formed your own conclusions?
And by observing the facts, I mean pouring through the evidence as it's provided. BEFORE it's filtered through the censors of your faith.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHas a believer ever actually correctly described the reasons why any given atheist is an atheist?
Ever?
Theists all seem to have their own varied reasons for our collective disbelief... Why don't they just take us for our own word or testimony? Why is the typical Christian testimony the only one that's accepted by Christians as being valid?
Are all of our human experiences valid? Under what logic does one put a single indoctrinated dogma above all other countless experiences?
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians: Do you believe that people need a reason to do good in the world?
Do you think people need YOUR reason to do good?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs it a sin to reuse a vacuum bag?
I've looked everywhere in the Bible and I can't find an answer...
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf we do this, can we bring Jesus back sooner?
Since global warming is bringing on the Apocalypse, couldn't we speed along the process by simply burning gasoline out of 50 gallon drums in our backyards every day?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoShould laws be passed in order to prevent people from sinning and damning themselves to Hell?
If the wage of sin is eternal death, doesn't the end of saving more souls justify the means of forcing them to repent?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoInstead of trying to tear down Evolution, why don't creationists actually put forth their own evidence?
They want to be called science, but science is about founding a theory based on uncovering and thoroughly explaining evidence that explains a particular phenomenon.
How do Creationists hope to prove something scientifically without actually explaining any of the actual evidence scientifically?
36 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy try to connect with an image of God when you can learn to fully connect to yourself?
Aren't we really only looking to find ourselves by seeking all of these "divine" answers and solutions?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf everyone's just out to sell their own religion, what are atheists selling?
Where do they keep the collection plates?
