Why try to connect with an image of God when you can learn to fully connect to yourself?

Sounds like a load of New Age bollocks to me. If most people knew -- much less admitted to -- what floats around in the darkness at the bottom of their minds, the planet would be an even bigger madhouse than it already is. I doubt that one person out of a thousand would be sane enough to wipe the drool off their chin and potty themselves if they knew just how vicious, evil, and depraved they are at the heart of themselves.

I think I'll pass on that fully connected to oneself business, thanks all the same.

So you want everyone to be a shrink, a self-shrink at that. No, we're not "only" looking to find ourselves, because that's the easy part. And when we find ourselves, we normally conclude that there's far more to the picture than just us. We're too complex to be at the center of the universe. And that's when we discover God.

In a way, yes. My church teaches that God exists nowhere more powerfully than in our hearts. If we do the hard work of finding ourselves, we will find God too.

Any image of God we have will be too limited anyway, so the more we connect, the clearer an idea we have about who He is.

Some people turn to faith for guidance, and address religion in different ways.

So in a sense, everyone has their own religion.

And that just for starters. There so much more to life than worshiping an imaginary friend.
