Christians: Do you believe that people need a reason to do good in the world?
Do you think people need YOUR reason to do good?
Are there people that do good things for others for no apparent reason at all?
If so, then why?
"before you dismiss this, actually think about it. The Christian worldview, states that man is made in the image of God, therefore, even if he or she were to deny God, they would still, by nature, do some good. So, with that, no matter what a person *claims* to believe or not believe, they might do some good for "no apparent reason."
(this is not a full theology of humanity, including man's sin nature... but just answering your question)"
Yes, with apologetics. But I appreciate that you actually thought through your answer. And rest assured that I HAVE thought about this. For the first 20 years of my life. And it never started to make real sense, 100%, until I started applying the fact that I didn't know what the hell I was talking about at the time... Haha. Don't push apologetics... They're just persuasion tactics based on tactfully dodging or incorporating whatever facts seem to apply to the subject... It's social manipulation and it's morally wrong. Go figure...
"I try to make others happy because it makes me happy."
Naturally, we're all on the same side. We're all working towards the same goals, in general. Prosperity for our kind... It only makes sense that our social cooperation would be a positively adapted ability through our instinctual manifestations... It makes beautiful sense.
"We've evolved to be social creatures. It's in our best interest to build successful cooperative communities."
And even society itself is evolving and adapting to the world it must survive in. "Green" technologies are far past due, though.

People don't need a reason to do good in the world, but good people need reasoning in the world.

It doesn't matter what they believe the reason for doing good is as it is always and Only the selfish ego which will only do any action if it gets some kind of rewarding feeling. For example when you do a good deed your ego is rewarded wWitha good feeling for doing good, or a nice feeling for doing the right thing, You cannot do any action what so ever which is not a direct selfish act for the ego to get some kind of feeling out of it. This feeling may not always be a good feeling but the ego will not do anything at all without some kind of reward for it.

Yes because we dont do anything for no reason at all, good or bad.
They dont need my reason to do good but I suspect most people share the same reasons, in general, for doing good.
No, there is always a reason even if it is not apparent to us or even the person doing it.
People that go around doing things without any reason tend to be insane and then insanity is their reason.

LOL. i think the better question is do you believe that people are inherently good or bad? Who cares what the motivation for good things are, as long as they are happening. We wont ever catch up to all the evil that happens. People do good things for many different reasons, and you'll never know what they are.

No, no reason
But as a believer we know its what God wants from us to be kind and help those less fortunate.
As nonbelievers we do it cause it makes Us feel better,
To treat people kindly is an act of humanity

No, goodness is its own reason.
If I don't think people need any reason, I can't very well think that they need MY reason, can I?
Yes, there are. Asking "why" implies an apparent reason they might have, which I don't think people need. So my answer would have to be "no reason."
And yes, I'm a Christian.

I'm not a Christian and I'll tell you why I do good for others, because it makes me happy to see others happy. If that is suppose to be a bad reason, bite me.

Those who feel they need supernatural deities to remain civil scare me.
