Which Airport is better to fly into from the US, Manchester or Heathrow airport?

Best one for flights to and from, and connections to get to northern areas of the UK?

Since you are going to the North of England, Manchester is the "hands down" winner. Heathrow is normally a disaster even on its good days. For South of England, I prefer Gatwick to Heathrow, but, honestly, most British airports are a real hassle now, and woefully overcrowded.

Heathrow is in the South of England and Manchester is in the North of England.
