Who is your favorite non-fiction author?

I hate these questions because I never manage to answer with just one and I somehow feel that I've failed.

I love Bruce Chatwin for the way he opens up distant lands and cultures for me.

I love Studs Terkel for the way he brings the voice of humanity home to me.

I love Bill Bryson for his open hearted, broad ranging curiousity and his wit.

I love everyone who ever wrote a dictionary.

James Michener writes historical fiction, so it kind of falls in a gray area.

This might sound funny - but I really enjoy John O'Hurley's books. He has a natural and fun way of writing and he always makes me smile....
