    I hate these questions because I never manage to answer with just one and I somehow feel that I've failed.

    I love Bruce Chatwin for the way he opens up distant lands and cultures for me.

    I love Studs Terkel for the way he brings the voice of humanity home to me.

    I love Bill Bryson for his open hearted, broad ranging curiousity and his wit.

    I love everyone who ever wrote a dictionary.
