Resume for my Upcoming Internship at a Research Facility...?

I've been researching it online, but I'm completely overwhelmed!

I have to write a resume TODAY for my upcoming internship. I'm a biotechnology major and my internship will be at one of the local research facilities.

How should I start? What should I include?

you need to tailer your resume to the position you're applying for. First off, decide which sub-sections you wish to emphasis. I'm a grad student in biochem and i have 4 distinct sections with subpoints within: Education, Research Experience, Teaching Experience, Publications/Seminars. use bullets to stress the different points and stay objective; ie. avoid flowerly language. Its important to structure your resume according to a particular theme, not just listing out everything you've done.

    quick example:

    Graduate Student Researcher 05/04- present

    Massachusetts Institute of Technology

-conduct research under the direction of " " in developmental genetics.

-Thesis product is designed to correlate phenotypic markers in drosophila to developmentally lethal mutations in the wnt signaling pathway.

-devised a genetic screen using P-elemental transposition to .... yada yada.

-Extensive experience with cloning, PCR (inverse, RT), primer design, mutagenenesis, bioinformatic anaysis using GCG etc. etc.

if you're lacking actual research experience don't hesitate to put actual classes in these experiences, such as "advanced molecular biology lab" or something, and then highlight some key points.

hope this helps. For undergrad. internships the main thing they look for are GPA and "exposure" to basic lab practices, such as pipetting and western blots. You're not expected to be designing your own experiments and/or holding a phD.

    good luck!

If you have worked in a lab then mention that. Talk about what you did there, what the research project was etc. If not, then talk about what your own interests are in Research and why you are interested in this particular place that you want to work. I would review any papers that they have published. See if you can understand the general thrust of their intentions and explain why it interests you. You can mention some of the course work you have done too to show that you have the basics down and would be valuable to have working in the lab.

you do no longer positioned destiny plans on your resume. For all you recognize you would be fired on your first day there. or you should in basic terms replace your suggestions. i understand you will no longer yet what's to end me from putting down that i will paintings at NASA next 365 days? you have been taught suitable in this regards. you should besides the undeniable fact that point out it in a quick conceal letter nevertheless.
