How long will it take me to drive to Hawaii from Colorado?

My Concierge Club and I are planning a vacation to Hawaii and we wan't to know how long it will take to get there by car? I'm terrified of airplanes so I don't want to try that.

Well, the drive to LA will take 14 hours. The underocean tunnel has a speed limit of 70 kilometers per hour. So it will take you at least two days. It is a lovely drive but sometimes it gets a little stuffy.

Well...theoretically, if you buy a car like the Hydraspyder (high performance amphibious car) or the Terra Wind (Amphibious RV), you could drive there, but I expect that those cars are not rated for the open ocean (with outriggers, the Terra Wind can take 3-foot waves). The Terra Wind (starting at $850,000.00) only has a 150 gallon deisel tank and there aren't very many filling stations between California and Hawaii. It only makes about 7 knots. At that speed, it will take a long time to get to Hawaii. The Hydraspyder (starting at $155,000.00) is fast enough to pull a waterskier, but it has an even smaller tank.

I think driving to California then booking a cruise to Hawaii will be the best bet.

EDIT: Leaving from California, cruises usually take 7 days, (15 days for a round-trip). To that you would add the 12-15 hours to drive to Los Angeles (depending where in Colorado you begin).

Unless you've got some type of boat / ship waiting for you - your trip will end when the ocean swallows your vehicle about 10-feet off the western shore.

It takes an airplane several hours to fly from the west coast to Hawaii ... so even an amphibious car would have difficulties crossing that much ocean.

Sorry - it's just not practical to try to DRIVE to Hawaii...

It's doable but it will be a long long drive...I'm sure you will want to stop and rest so it may take a few days to get there. You'll be fine though as long as you like seafood, that's the only option they have as far as grabbing a bite to eat once you leave California. I love road trips. Flying is highly overrated! I think your plan to drive there is so much more fun! Hey I'm a concierge! Can I join your club and come with? Well that is as long as you aren't having any closet terrorists with genital herpes on the trip. Oh if I come can you pack some penispie and scrotumsoup to snack on along the way?? I love that stuff!

A billion years...you do know there's something called the Pacific Ocean between Colorado and Hawaii? You can't drive all the way there...you either have to fly or get on a boat once you reach the California Coast.

Dude, you do know that Hawaii is an island, right?! 2-3 days to California, then however long it takes your car on a BOAT to get there. Took my car 30 days to get to and from there when I moved there.

Call the USAF and get a large plane then drive it on the plane... then have them fly you in your car to hawaii... then drive off should take about 3 hours and you will only travel 1 mile.

It will take about 3 days to get to California. After that, I don't know because most cars won't run good under water. I don't know of any ferries that go there, so if you don't find a freighter steaming to Hawaii, I don't think your car is going to make it.

Unless you've invented a car that can drive on water, your journey will be unsuccessful, as Hawaii is located in the middle of the pacific ocean.

I so hope that this is your idea of a joke, or you are incredibly bored.

Hawaii is an island, actually a series of islands. This means that is is completely surrounded by water and can only be accessed by plane or a cruise ship.

Please look at a world map, a globe or an atlas before asking such an obvious question. It will save your points and make you look more educated.

    Have a good day.
