racial double standards in school?

so at my school..there is a dress code like in every other school.well, there is a double standard with the dress code

if the black/hispanic/native american girls wear a skirt,it has to come to our middle fingers, but the white/asian girls,it only has to come down to their index finger.

it isnt fair because my friend got sent home because her skirt was too short, but it was the same skirt madalynn had on and they were the same skirt, same size (different colors),well..it isnt fair that we cant wear what we want, and they can...and its not an officail rule, but they always say to the black/hispanic/native girls "go to the office, call your parents because you cant wear that skirt,it has to come down to your middle finger" but for the white/asian girls, they can...what should i do about this?

is the problem that generally black/hispanic/(some) native girls have bigger butts and generally white/asian girls dont?..even if it is..its not fair

Update:

IM SERIOUS!!!

maria celeste(maria- ceh-les-teh) got sent home 2day and she had oh the same skirt as madalynn

She isn't lying! I remember in 6th grade I wore the same skirt as like 5 other girls and of course I was the only one ordered to change! It didn't break the dress code. I am giving you a star thanks for pointing this out!

Well it sounds like a rumor made by the students based around the racial stereotype that black and hispanic girls have larger butts and hips. Which could be likely considering this is the age when girls develope, etc and everyone does so at a different pace. Also, the more of a figure a girl has, the more a skirt will attract attention to her, it's just the way it is. This doesn't make selctive disipline OK, it just makes it harder to enforce a basic rule when the same outfit fits girls differently depending on body developement.

If it really is an issue with the school -- talk to a teacher/parent/somone of power you trust.

You may also want to take a look at the racial issues among the students. Are the kids the one who say that this is the rule enforced?

Have you ever seen a techer actually enforce this rule?

If what you are stating is true, I would get the parents of whoever is sent to the office (because of the length of their skirts), and get them to ask the Principal , why there is a different rule for two different groups of girls.

OR if you can do this without anger and without being rude to whoever you are talking to - Get a petition going with signatures from every girl that has been sent to the office for this reason. Then get a group of these girls together (choose the polite girls) and go to the office and ask to meet with the Principal. Take the petition with you and ask, very nicely, why the difference. You may get somewhere and you may not. If you do not, (but still keep your cool) then take the petition and the girls, to the School Board meeting, whenever that might be, and ask the same question.

If you can get at least one Parent to go to the Principal with you all the better. If you end up by going to the School Board Meeting, ask some Parents to go with you as well. With a Parent present, they are more likely to listen to you.

If that doesn't work, I have another suggestion for you, but I would rather not give it, unless you have tried these options first. E-mail me through Answers if you don't get anywhere.

If you do the above without frustration and anger, you are more likely to be listened to. It is like the political debates going on now. The Delegates keep their cool, so that people will listen to them.

Its like this at my school too, I got sent home last year for this and I disputed it with the assistant principal, he claimed he had to send me home because it would make some parent upset and that it doesn't send the right message for the younger girls andn it draws negative attention from boys. I think its a load of crap though how the white girls get to stay at school when half the time their skirts show off their underwear, and I wear mine respectfully and not show mine. They may also be jealous because they don't have bangin figures to show off too.

If Madalynn wants to be a whore and wear her skirt short then let her. Your friend should be glad she was sent home...don't follow idiots. Just go to school, get your education, so you can do what you love to do while making $ and dress however the hell you want.

This sounds like one severely messed up dress code, this can't possibly be real, you want me to believe that everyone that isn't Asian or White can't have their skirts past the index finger, which is 1 cm less than the middle finger!? Right.....

    Oh Jesus--cry me a river!

Unless you have oddly misshapen hands, there really isn't that much difference between the length of your middle and index fingers. Looking at mine, I'd say that my middle finger is MAYBE 1/4 inch (probably less) longer than my index finger.

If I were you, I'd worry more about your studies and less about trying to make something out of nothing.

well, you are right...perhaps some of the parents of the minority girls could address this issue before the school board...

is this a joke? the difference between the middle and index fingers is like 1/4 an inch. i think you have some real serious issues regarding race that need to be looked into. not everything in this world revolves around blac/white issues.
