How can I get my zune to recognize windows media player so i can download my songs again?
It did it once when I first got the zune. But... nothing I do will make it sync or find windows media player. I even unloaded and loaded the software hoping it would go through the initial search phase again.

You can't sync using Win Media Player unless you know of a hack. Just put your music in the My Music folder. Zune will import anything that is DRM free. Burn the rest to a cd and rip it into Zune.

I didn't have my Zune before the latest firmware update, but I know that mine won't sync with Windows Media Player at all. It has to sync through the Zune software. Maybe the older firmware version allowed you to do that.

iv in no way had a zune, yet their could be a miles less complicated answer, with cellular telephones, psp's etc you're able to do this. plug it in via skill of USB. after your computing gadget recognizes its their circulate to my computing device and circulate to whateverpersistent its in ex: g: or J: double click it. locate the folder that has your track, drag and drop the track from their into WMP. or replica and previous songs into that folder with the songs.
