Very real dreams but you know you're dreaming...?

OK, have you ever had a dream that seemed so real, but you knew you were dreaming? I've had quite a few recently. My friends think I'm weird!! I can be dreaming and realise I'm dreaming and about to wake up (I can actually sense my body in bed), and I don't want to wake up so I click my fingers (in the dream of course) and magically make things happen! It's so cool. Trouble is, when I click my fingers to make someone I really fancy appear it never works!! Then I feel myself waking up. Sometimes I wake up and can't move my body for a bit. My eyes are open but it takes a short while for my body to wake up. Does this make sense to anyone?? Just thought I'd share it cos I think it's fantastic! Lol!

Update:

These are all great answers, I can relate to them all!!

Well except the person who peed the bed lol but that was funny

I've had a bad dream that I was being chased across a meadow at night and I had to climb over a wall, and then these shadowy figures came up behind me. I turned round and it was Claire from work wanting some paperwork lol but it was scary up until that point!

I was like that last night. I was having a really horrid dream about sharks and it was getting really scary, because it was trying to eat me and it has eaten loads of people I knew and it could come out of the water, but I was aware that it was a dream and I was actually sage in bed and I forced myself to wake up. I hate when I am having a nice dream and it happens and I am desperately trying to say asleep and in the dream.

You are describing what is called lucid dreaming..when you know you are dreaming.

You can sometimes even alter the course of your own dream when you realize you're dreaming. Sort of rewind in the dream itself or make a different decision or change scenes to make it more pleasant.

your subconscious is doing "housecleaning" so you can rearrange things in a more comfortable fashion

The other thing you are describing is called sleep paralysis. It means a part of your brain regained consciousness but another part did not and this usually happens when you are overtired.

Yes, both make sense and are not uncommon phenomena

edit: I guess part of my brain was asleep, because I overlooked another answer that already spoke of lucid dreaming and sleep paralysis. oops.

Wow, yes it is fantastic and it also sounds like you may be doing some out of body stuff...astral projection...the clicking of the fingers and the way the body takes a bit longer to reanimate after you come back...this is about you...and that is why you can't make someone else appear to you...find a good site and read up on astral projection...I am sending you one that has a workbook type of exercises to help strengthen what you are doing naturally...good luck and keep working at this...you sound like a natural

yeah it happens to me quite a bit as well. its the most awesome feeling in the world, an for the longest time, nobody believed me.

its what is known as "lucid dreaming"; it happens to some people more than others. its perfectly normal, unless it gets into the way of your normal routine.

yeah i had this crazy dream last week where a bunch of people i really didnt like were in my dream, so i was like "get the fcuk out of my dream, you morons!"....and the wre gone.

the reason your body cant move for a while is REM paralysis; you usually dream during REM, and your body is paralyzed so you dont do anything to hurt yourself [ie act out your dreams]; when youre sort of waking up, youre just exiting REM stage sleep so youre still unable to move.

Yep, it happens to me too but now it's gone a step further. If I'm dreaming that I'm writing my hand takes the position of holding a pen and starts 'writing' in mid air, this usually wakes me up and I'm still writing! If I dream I'm stroking my dog my hand does a stroking movement in mid air, it's weird but I always laugh when I wake up. Oh, and I've often dreamt that I need a pee and that I've got up and am on the toilet when really I'm still in bed, I've been lucky so far unlike poor mandy j.

From a Freudian attitude, the dream human beings and your self are in basic terms projections of your mind's eye. you are able to replace every physique visual allure which contains your person interior the dream international. the actuality of the suggestions as greater malleability to it, which ours might have in a pair of years. actuality is as genuine as we've faith it fairly is. to illustrate the Buddhist think of each and every of the international is an phantasm and don't watch television calling it: "an phantasm interior an phantasm." it fairly is an identical element as a dream in those words. besides the undeniable fact that it is not important what you call what looks to, the two phantasm or actuality, you are able to desire to confront that element because it fairly is it fairly is phenomena.

    Don't worry!

Although alot of others cannot relate to you some people can!

I have similar feelings but don't tell anyone cos when I have told someone in the past they just laugh!

These dreams are magical for some!

    I know what you mean.

Sometimes i'll be dreaming and KNOW i'm dreaming but i can't wake up no matter how hard i try. like during bad dreams

Other times ill be having a great dream and know that i'm about to wake up but cant stop it.

SOMETIMES i'll have dreams where i dream that i wake up in my dream and go about the day normally but weird things happen but i think its real because in my dream, i woke up from my dream.
