Out of body dreams...?
Someone said about OOBE in one of my other questions. When my Mum used to live a few miles away I'd go over and stay. We both thought the house was haunted or something as things got moved around sometimes. My sister stopped one night and she was watching TV in the living room. I was tired so lay on the sofa to go to sleep. I remember waking up (or was I dreaming?!) and trying to call for my sister to turn the TV down or something but nothing came out my mouth. Next thing I knew I was levitating above the sofa! I could feel it, and I've always thought I really was levitating or something, like had an OOBE, then I 'floated' back down. It seemed so real, and I was scared. But I can't remember anything else other than waking up the next day, and remembering it a couple of days later!!

Whoa. Freaky. I've had things like that happen to me before. Like, I wake up but it feels like I'm dreaming and I'll walk to my bed or something. The next morning, I ask my parents how I got there and they'd tell me I walked there... I never remember doing it though.

I guess there are 3 possible answers to your dream.
1)Dream walking - As what "The Emo" explained, sometimes a person could walk around or move around when he/she is in dreaming state. I guess this could happen when the person is in half awake and half sleeping state.
2)Out of body experiences - As what Sean had said, I believe sometimes a person's spirit could leave his/her body temporarily especially when going through "Near Death Experience"(NDE). You can read more about NDE from the websites.
There are people who through some techniques & meditations(Eastern religion), were able to detach their spirits from their bodies for a period of time. And their spirits could move around without their bodies. Caution: It's very dangerous to do this because it'll end up with the person's spirit could not enter back to his/her body or being possessed over by demons.
3)Demonic activities - I know of cases where the person's whole body was lifted up by demons while sleeping in houses that are haunted or places that are highly demonic such as Tibet. And the person found himself floating in the air when he woke up.
I guess your case is the same as this.(very high possibilities)

Yes oob's do happen. When you have one, you KNOW you had an OOB experience. So non-believers can not know unless they have one too.
I used to practice a technique to take myself OOB which I did regularly, but I was never able to travel, just 'float' above my self. But it was a great experience anyway!

I have never had a dream like that, but want to!
My mum has a similar thing happen but involving other people. She will often wake up, and she said she is fully awake, and will see people at the bottom of her bed. Sometimes it is my brother or his eldest daughter. Sometimes it is my step daughter. My niece has said that sometimes she thinks she has walked into my mums room but she actually not even there.
Very bizzare!

I remember when i had my appendix taken out, they put the anesthetic in me, and i fell asleep, then i woke up again, except i was staring down at myself from above the room, and everything was lucid, like real life, and i could hear them saying scalpel, and i saw em cut me open, take out my appendix and sew me up.
It was so freaky because it was like real life, unlike any dream i'd ever had, i didn't feel anything but i saw intimate details of the operation that i shouldn't have known. Freaky huh?
