open the 360 bot up to dashboard
5th blade SETTINGS
CONSOLE settings
DISPLAY
1980x1600 if u want 1080i
1280x1024 if u want 720p

On your XBOX360 go to the System section and select "Console Settings" and select "Display". Next select hdtv settings and apply the proper hdtv settings for your configuration.

You could either have the cables mixed up, a wrong impression on your "HD" cables, or your HDMI input for your TV isn't working (or it's simply not plugged into your HDMI port)
