What qualifies as a Legal Visitation for a jail?

To be allowed to interview a client an attorney is usually used.

An exception to this is a certified para legal who works for an attorney and is recognized as Para legal qualified and working on cases for an attorney.

The only difference between an attorney a law student and a para legal is that the attorney has the power to represent a client in court. A para legal and a law student are qualified to do many things for an attorney (interview, background, cites, etc) but cannot represent a client unless in specific cases of non law trial courts such as Administrative hearings, social security hearings etc..

In my state, when I was doing defense work, I was required to show my Bar admission card. That meant that I was an attorney licensed in my state and in good standing. In order to legally represent clients, you have to be a licensed attorney and in good standing. I don't believe that anything other than that would allow entrance, at least in my state.
