Do - Write often
Don't - send an over abundance of anything. Remember, he has a limited amount of space to keep pictures, cards etc...
Don't - complain to him or whine about problems he can't fix while away. You would be surprised how many Privates are affected by this.
Don't - send any type of contriband (prohibited items such a tobacco, food, electronics, etc...)
Do - tell him how proud you are of him and that he is the MAN because he is a Soldier

My fiance got it handed to him today because his mother wrote him a letter and used her return address label which had a USMC symbol.
And dont send him any cards with girly colored envelopes.
Also don't send him any sexy photos. My fiance also told me he had to open my letter I wrote in front of the DS because there was photos in the envelope. Thank god they were just ultrasound pics!

DON'T send food! He will have to eat the entire box by himself... it'll make him sick no matter what it is. Just keep letters plain and simple. Doesn't matter how long they are. No nude pics but pics in general are ok. The drill sgts. won't read what you write him but write them as if they ARE going to see them. Just in case! Have fun.

Keep it simple, nothing flashy. Any packages you sent will probably be opened in front of everyone and he may have to share whatever's inside. 8)
