What's wrong with me...?
Okay, So i'm still trying to find a new psych since I moved and wrote down everything that has been going on. My last one diagnosed me with depression, which I've had for 10 years. Can you all give me an idea [I know you can't diagnose] of what it sounds like to you? If you have any of these or dealt with it please let me know! thank you
-cut at least 1x a week [constantly thinking about it]
-paranoid - feel like someone is watching me, can't hear what I'm thinking, all doors must be shut at all times
-get angry over nothing, rapid mood changes during the day
-hallucinations - although not before I took my meds [listed below], see people, lights, shadows moving
-can't have mirrors b/c I think I see things moving around me
-have no sense of self, feel like I won't catch up
-extreme anxiety
-sometimes forget what I'm talking about or what I said
-feel worthless, no appetite
-suicidal
-blame myself for everything, even when I'm barely involved
-physically abused when I was younger
Meds previously on:
Effexor
Lexapro
Cymbalta
Clonazepam
Lamictal
Lithium
Zyrexa
I was never on any of them for longer than 2-3 weeks but still feeling side effects 3 months later! Thanks again
I asked if you could give me an idea of what could be going on? Did you not read the first paragraph? I gave my symptoms, if you can't then don't worry about it. I'll ask when I get a new psych whenever that is. Thought I could have an idea though.
Bipolar was brought up but I don't really go into manic states. I just kind of go from okay to severely depresses in the blink of an eye. But not everyday, just most of them. If that makes sense.
But schizophrenics don't know that their hallucinations and paranoia aren't real, or at least that's what I thought. Thank you, I'll look more into it as well.
doplhin - actually the dr is the one who took me off the meds every couple of weeks without weening me off because I was having sever reactions to them. I was wasting time and money but not the way you're putting it. Everything I took me me wither suicidal, hallucinating to the point I couldnt be alone, hacking my arm open and a bunch of other stuff. It was her decision, I was willing but not to the point where I become suicidal and feel like acting on it.
Thank you all, If anyone has anything that'd be great.
fred - you said the thing about a memory of a hallucination, flashback. the only thing is they keep changing shapes and I'm seeing new things all the time. Even the facial features change. thanks for always telling me new things to check out too.

Dear, please, in Maine phone books anyway, there is a phone number for a Crisis Hot line. You can get the number free from the 800 directory: Crisis Hot line in Maine 18005551212, I am disabled and down for the night or I
would (am wheelchair bound) look it up for you. I don't know where you are, but they might be able to help. Don't give up! Try calling a crisis line, if to only have someone to talk to dear, don't go it alone, sounds like you're on overload as it is, and the more you wonder, the more questions you create to questions. Get some answer to just one question dear, one at a time, it's progress. Good luck, Bless you, at least you have strength to ask for help, you will probably get all kinds of answers here, I believe folks try to help, only so much we can do Dear, we don't know if we not educated for what sounds like, a lot of questions to be generic to you, it wouldn't be fair. Don't give up though, help is there for you.
Source(s): I go to a large Mental Health based organization in Maine, and I used to work as a volunteer and be there as a friend for folks, that sound much as helpless as you do, but not hopeless Dear, not hopeless. You did ask, that's progress! Woohoo! to you! - madblonde1971Lv 41 decade ago
Hi Hunni
They are all symptoms of depression as i have suffered most of them myself. Dont give up on looking for a good Psychologist. I have one and i think the world of her. She has helped me through the hardest time of my life and im forever greatful. You really need to find one that will sit there and listen as long as you need as you pour your heart out. There is also a new rebate scheme through medicare (if you live in Australia) called the Mental Health Scheme which enables you to seek counselling sessions for much less than you would normally pay. You'll need a referral from your GP to start this medicare scheme.
Seems to me that you really need someone to have a good talk with about your previous physical abuse otherwise it will continue to remain a huge part in your life and affect the way you do every day tasks now and in the future.
Dont stop taking your medication suddenly. It can have worse effects by doing this. What i am curious about is why you've been on so many different medications. I tried Zoloft a few years ago (it worked brilliantly) but it seemed to make my fatigue problem worse so now i take Lovan which i find works well also. If you can't find a good Psychologist then contact your local Mental Health Team. They are fantastic at what they do also so dont give up.
I know what's it like to feel that no one cares and everytime you want to talk to someone they're never there when you need them which only makes the situation worse. Let me tell you though, that YOU'RE NOT ALONE!! If you ever need any other help in getting through this then dont hesitate to contact me and i'll do my best to pull you through.
Take care hun and goodluck.

I think you sound like you have more than one diagnosis. Is it possible are bipolar with out the manic phases? Yes.
I think what is important is NOT the label or name of what you have, but finding something that work to improve your behavior.
If you have only been on different meds, no matter how many, but stayed on them just 2 or 3 weeks, then you wasted the time of the doctor, you wasted money from your insurance company, but mostly, you are cutting yourself short of having a positive and good existence.
Medications take six weeks or longer to work. They really suck when you are going on them; you feel worse, you think they aren't working, you think you know better than the doctor does...but...they DO work AFTER six weeks. You need to take the time with each med to find out if it works, otherwise, you'll keep cutting, thinking of cutting, have anxiety, and everything else you have listed above.
Give yourself the chance to be well! You deserve it.
Spend time on yourself by reading books about mental illness, seeing a therapist or pyschiatrist (or both), and take the medications they suggest for long enough to see if they even work. 2-3 weeks isn't even a start.
I wish you good luck!

The thing about chemicals that cause hallucinations, is they cause psychological flash backs. You see something that reminds your unconscious mind of the hallucination you HAD, and it triggers a false vision, a memory of a hallucination.
They fade, just keep it in mind that they MIGHT happen.
Did I give you the idea of using lucid dreaming as a tool? Part of it is doing reality testing when awake, to get into the habit and make it easier to know when you are dreaming. I always thought it'd help with hallucinations too.
I use it for a stress buster, but I honestly think it'd help you out.

Good Grief! Serious depression and not having the right medication.
I could give you a huge list, but depression can do all of these things to you. From Paranoid-Schizophrenia to Obsessive-Compulsive to Bi-Polar Anxiety. I'll bet you even get panic attacks. You might find a better doctor at your local mental health clinic.
I dealt with all these things before they finally found a medication, I could tolerate.

Well it could not be one diagnosis, it is probably a little bit of multiple disorders. The history of abuse is probably the root cause that you need to deal with (the cutting and blaming of yourself is common). I think medications in addition to serious consouling perhaps even hypnosis to go back to the blocked details. Its very good you have an understanding about your situation. You can get better, you are NOT mentally disabled forever. It may take time but keep working on it!
