As for prices, I think you should just ask them if they'd be willing to pay x amount for gas while their gone, and maybe an extra 10-15 dollars for your time.

I would suggest not taking the dog to your house unless you can afford to get a pet deposit, and who know what else if your cought with an animal.

Maybe you could discuss with your landlord the situation and see if he/she would allow a dog to stay there for the days. maybe just have them pay the pet deposit for your apartment if your not going to be driving back and forth.

Do these people not have friends closer than 40 miles away? Normally, a pet owner gets someone nearby to stop in a couple times per day to feed/walk the dog. I'd think that $10-$15 per day is fair for that. However, if they're expecting you to keep the dog in your home (against condo regulations), your should charge for gas for the 80-mile round trip, plus $25 or so per day, along with the caveat that if you get caught by your condo board and fined, the dog owners would pay that.

Again, though, they should really get someone who lives closer.

You could go $15 or $20 a day since dogs are more work.

It makes no sense to risk getting booted out of your apartment to pet sit a dog. So, either have the family pay the pet deposit (they'll get it back, right?), pay for your gas, and pay $5 - $10 per day for the pet sitting. This is very reasonable.

OR you could have them pay for your gas (both ways, every day) plus $10 per day.

OR you could have them pay for your gas (both ways), pay $5 - $10 per day for pet sitting, plus $20 per day for house sitting.

if its a friendly dog then i wouldn't charge more then $30 a day.

if hes kind of mean then charge at least $40 a day.

if you get caught with the dog, make sure you charge THEM for it. tell them what happened first, im sure they'd offer to pay it anyways, if they're reasonable people.

The best amount is five or six an hour. That's what I would do. Atleast one of those amounts or nobody will let you keep there dog.
