Mechwarrior 2? I found an old version of M2 (from 1998) for windows 95. Can it be used with Vista safely?

I'm worried about install problems and changes to start up files.

you will need to get a piece of boot software called dosbox. it is free and it emulates the dos enviroment that that game probably needs to run you can get it from

    http://www.dosbox.com/

download and install the emulator and you will be good to go! happy gaming!

I know absoultely nothing about Vista, BUT, if anything, you may have some trouble with the graphics... I have a few older games that throws incorrect colors make the games too pixelated and what-not because they were designed for Windows 95 or 98. Does Vista offer a compatibility mode you could run it in? (as in, right clicking the .exe file, and choosing 'properties', then 'compatibility' and selecting it to run in Windows 98)

it should work. It might not be perfect, but it should be playable. I was recently playing Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2, which came out a really long time ago, and i can play it on Vista

It is unlikely it will work. Try using an emulator or virtual machine.
