vegetarians, what's your favorite brand of veggie burgers...?

and/or fake chicken patties that doesn't have soy in it?

(or at least not a lot of soy. i sometimes feel sick if i eat too much of it. )

so does anyone know of good brands that have lots of mushrooms or other sources of protein? ones that also taste good?

thanks guys!!!

Update:

i currently have the Amy's california burger. it's edible but not mmm-mmm good.

Update 2:

my dilemma is soy can make me feel sick but i don't care for mushrooms.

so i'm working on training myself to like mushrooms. i just need to get used to them, i think i can do it :)

Amy's has the California Veggie Burger which is soy free and should be found in Manny stores. It is a savory blend of grains, organic vegetables, mushrooms, and walnuts, and has 6 grams of protein. And taste sooo good! Also another great brand is Gardenburger, and there soy free burgers are the GardenVegan (10 grams of protein) & Sun-Dried Tomato Basil (5 grams of protein). All 3 are delicious and great brands, vegan, soy-free, and good sources of protein!

You can also make your own with seitan, black beans, or a grilled portabella mushroom!

My favorite is GardenBurger especially the veggie medley and black bean chipotle versions. These are made with cooked brown rice instead of the TVP used in most other brands of veggie burgers. My family and I lived on a lot of brown rice as there were six of us and on what the military pays most enlisted people, a lot of meat was not in the budget and steamed brown rice is a great source of nutrition. I occasionally eat some boca or morning star products as they have the veggie bacon strips, veggie bbq riblets, and spicy veggie chicken nuggets.

My favorite are the soy protein burgers from Eating Right and the Vegan Spicy Chi'ken patties from Boca.

But since both of those contain soy, for you I would suggest a Gardenburger. Their portabello burgers or GardenVegan are pretty good and mostly made out of oats, grains, or mushrooms.

I like Gardenburger the best then Morningstar Farms. Boca Burgers are ok in a pinch.

Gardenburgers have rice in them and all kinds of chunky vegetables. I know there is one that has mushrooms in it and it tastes very delicious.

    Good luck!

I like the Morning Star Farms veggie burger that has chunks of carrot and potato in them. They are yummy!

As far as Chick'n patties are concerned, Morning Star Farms makes some good ones - Bocca are not too bad either.

I agree, Morningstar Spicy Blackbean burgers! They're delicious.

I actually think meat substitutes are disgusting most of the time, but these are actually really good! They're not spicy at all, though.

Basically all you taste are black beans. It's a good meat substitute and very tasty. :)

And they don't have any mushrooms so you don't have to train yourself to eat them! =D

Morningstar Farms Chik Patties are awesome.

I love the morningstar farms brand of fake meat. There black bean burger kills. I would take that over gardenburger and boca burger any day. Check out the local coops like wholefoods, lakewinds, and wild oats types of places and they will more than likely have a few more brands.

Veggie burgers, I don't have a suggestion. The only ones I've liked are soy, and I think I've only tried one non-soy (Amy's California burger) and I didn't like it.

The only non-soy chicken sub I can think of is Quorn. It's REALLY good, though. All quorn is ovo-veg, as I think all of their products have egg in them.

Then why you worry about cost factor of being a "cozy" vegan?

Mostly I do my own. Doubled with sliced cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onion, vegan burger, vegan mayonnaise and "chilly" sauce, pepper.
