Weird period... can I get pregnant?
Before I got on the birth control pill (at 17), my periods were few and far between. I'd say about 2-3 times a year! It was very strange and blamed on hormones.
Since being on the pill, my periods are extremely normal. My question is, once I decide to try for a baby, will I have problems since I'm SO irregular without the pill? Should I work on this sooner than later? Does this somehow mean I'm unable to conceive?

I am going to be completely honest with you, becasue I wish someone would have been with me when I came off the pill.
A little personal history: I was put on the pill when I was 19 for very irregular periods and told my hormones where out of whack. No other research was done and no concerns raised. At 27 I stopped to try to conceive. My periods remainded very irregualr even after some allowed time for adjusting which is recommended. I went to my Dr. and was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovaries) which are cysts on the ovaries and out of whack hormone levels inclusding an elevated testosterone level. This all causes ovulation problems. 5 years later I am still tryng but I have a pretty severe case of PCOS.
If you are overweight, have extra "male pattern" body and facial hair, acne you may have PCOS. Even some women of more normal weight can have it. ANd, even overweight women who don't have PCOS can still have ovulation problems.
But, you may not have a problem. I would recommend though that you see your primary care physician or your ob/gyn to have them run basic blood tests for hormone level checks (inclusing an insulin level...not sugar) and have a pelvic ultrasound done if you have any dull ache in the lower abdominal area which could be indicative of ovarian cysts.
I really am not trying to scare you, and I sure hope that none of this applies to you but I wanted to give you the info. There is so much medical intervention available to women with any ovulation issue which makes it very possible that you will be able to conceive.
Best to you.

should n't be a problem.. when you go off the pill and have had 3 periods/3 months...( weans the drug from your system)
the pill regulates your period, which is why you now get regular ones...
