What is the common denominator among all religions?
I am curious to know your opinions on what religions have in common. We too commonly focus on differences versus similarities.

A God, or gods, to worship.
Deity is the object and focus of religion.

the common denominator among most religions is an attempt to reach up to the eternal, to find long life or fulfilment or perfection.
However there is one that is different.
Christianity (and Judaism included to some extent) differs in that it tells the story of how God reaches down to humanity, in order to restore mankind's fellowship with God!

That we are all part of one another through love.
Sadly many in every religion miss the point but every religion has mystics even if they aren't respected. Those mystics tend to agree with each other no matter what their background is.

In my studies of cults and religions I have found God and Christ being common denominators with regard to what is believed about them.

All religions have:
1. Mythology
2. Rituals
3. Symbols
4. Taboos

They all seem to make women second rate to men. They all claim that they treat women fairly regardless of what is written in their religion against women.

They all say do not give in to material desire and love all as one. In the end all life is one, the self is illusion. If we give into ego and material desire then life will die. We will kill each other and tear down all the forests in greed and end up with nothing left

They're all essentially the same, but the bottom line is that they are designed to show individuals how to get along in society.
