Surely your presence will be enough!

I have seen pure maple syrup in the local supermarket and it really is NOT very popular here.

Besides that, Australian customs are extremely strict, so I can’t imagine you would get it through.

To be honest, I can’t think of anything that the USA has, that we can’t get here.

Do your relatives like sports? Perhaps you can get them something a bit different, like a baseball signed by a famous player.

I know that Australia can sometimes be a bit behind on new releases – CD’s, DVD's, designer clothes, designer, shoes. The USA is ahead with "new season" items and many Australian try to buy these things on eBay, so they can get them 12 months ahead of everyone else. So if your relations are into designer gear, they may appreciate this sort of thing.

    Addition:

Sorry Lisa V, you are incorrect. You can get most types of American candy here, including Hershey chocolate. Besides that, you will have trouble getting any sort of "food stuff" through customs.

DvDs don't all work here from another country. You could take them a calendar or book with photos of you area. But really Australia is very good for shopping not a lot we can't get so perhaps you could take them to a restaraunt and have a nice meal together. I'm sure they would really appreciate that or if they like a drink how about asking them what they like and get them a bottle of duty free. don't bring food items especially anything containing nuts seeds animal or plant products . but if you have any sort of edible products make sure you declare them Australia is very strict

You should give them what Austrailians don't have but the U.S does search on the internet for these items they will only cost about 12 dollars
