Humanity as one family?

I'm a Baha'i, a member of the Baha'i Faith. We follow Baha'u'llah, who died in 1892.

One of His primary teachings is that we are one human family - that God created humanity in His (spiritual) image, is continually showering His love upon all and uses the analogy of the "flowers of one garden, the leaves of one tree, the waves of one ocean".

We work to unite humanity, bring humanity together in one Universal Cause and one Common Faith.

What do you think about this?

    I'll buy that...

As long as that doesn't mean I have to shave my head and sell flowers from a street corner, and go door to door bugging the the living f e c k out of people...

    Sure...sounds right...no argument there...jolly good...

(although to tell ya' the truth...all that "fantastigorical cosmic bodiless creator being of pure energy" thing sounds a bit "far-fetched" and "childishly mythological" to me, and smacks of primitive superstitious baloney with no empirical evidence or basis in reality, other than the somewhat shaky and ancient testimony of people who thought the world was flat, that the sun spun around the Earth, and they were utterly clueless about everything else we know today about the nature of the universe...so...

    whatever...

I'm a Muslim and all the faith's claim this thing, you people are just new ones with nothing new. Good and Evil will stay here until the last day. One who does not follow the commandments of Allah ( God in Englsih ), and just follow his own whims and desires is oppresor as we have studied in Qur'aan. Such perosn will go to the Hell. If God just force us no one has second choice just to obey him, but we have free choice in this life between good and bad. In Islam life is a test.

IMHO: I think it is only one more in a long line of beautiful but deadly Satanically-inspired lies that are intended to seem like a balmy and soothing image about what humanity COULD be, using the term "god" in there to add an aire of spirituality, but the end is death... it never answers nor reconciles that, if the Baha-i's god is the true God, then how is it that, after the best, wisest and most peace-loving men in the world have tried, and if God is, indeed, showering us with His love, then why is there no "universal cause," no "united humanity."

No, Jesus Himself said this in Matthew 10:34-35: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law..." Thus He is dividing the light (those who place their faith only in Him for salvation from this wretched and dying world) and darkness (those who can and do believe ANYTHING except the truth that Christ is the one and only way.) He separates the sheep from the goats; the believers from the unbelievers; the lost from the found; the children of God (the Truth) from the children of Satan (the father of lies.)

Christ's "peace on earth" is something that we, in the modern age, REALLY don't like to deal with: a matter of "deferred gratification." While we have His joy and peace in our hearts the moment we accept His gift of salvation, there will be no "peace on earth" until the Son of Man (Jesus) returns to rule and reign on this earth.

    When will He return? Soon.

Nice philosophy but quite impractical since human nature is sinful, rapacious and avaricious. Thus mankind can never be voluntarily united in this life except by force or coercion.. Utopia has been tried so many times in the past without success.

It's a beautiful idea! Where do I sign in?

    But:

we've been trying to do this for ages, to unite people in a one family. So your tactic is to unite people by internet??

I am an atheist, so probably I will have to be in your religion to unite?

    NO WAY!!

I agree with the tenet that humanity is united and all evil happens because of ignorance to that fact.

When reason is eclipsed by faith, ignorance pervades humanity.

I believe it is not only true but the goal of all religions before they are corrupted by man.
