Only if the sediment is soft and not rock (like loess) and the "canyon" is a small feature (like a wash or an arroyo).

The Grand Canyon was carved through SOLID rock (not soft sediment) and is a VERY large feature.

a big canyon like the grand canyon or paloduro canyon takes thousands or millionsof years to form.
