Independents - Thoughts on phrase "Bush-McCain"?

I've heard Obama use this phrase in a speech in Madison and Chuck Schumer (a Clinton supporter) used it twice this morning on "Meet the Press" in about as many minutes. Does this irritate any other independents the way it does me? Of course as fellow Republicans McCain is going to agree with Bush on some issues, but he's hardly complicit in the incompetent way this administration has been run, which is certainly its greatest fault by far and not its (also problematical) stands on issues.

It's especially irritating in Obama's case, as this kind of thing seems to put the lie to his claims about being a unifier and being above all the dirty political gamesmanship. Maybe that's just talk for the primaries?

I see where you're coming from, but I think he's merely pointing out that although there are some minor differences, they both do still agree on some very important issues.

It's mere partisanship. Although you're an independent, you should be used to that much by now. Read between the lines is what I always say.

  • Everyone is going to pull dirty political tricks, truth is, the way this administration has done things the last 7 years plus has been horrible, but I tend to lose respect for a government that messes up and tries to put a spin on everything they do to come out looking clean in the end. I mean come on, the best thing Bush did is sign the economic stimulus lately. Every screw up was beat down with cash to solve it and it put this country where we are now. It is Bush-McCain, just as it was Republicans-Bush. There's a reason Democrats seem fragmented at times, and I'm not saying there's no fault in Democrats, but having a liberal agenda lets you be just that, more free of the whole conservativism and religious values. It lets people look more into real life issues than a Utopian mentality of can-do-no-wrong.

After seeing this country suffer for the last two terms I umderstand why people use that phrase, nothing good was done for this country and it's time to change.

The truth is that for the past 20 years the democrats have been running against Ronald Regan. And can't get over it.
