Whose better at the net:A.Roddick or A.Mauresmo?

Mauresmo is the far better volleyer. She is probably the best volleyer in the WTA, along with Henin. Roddick has slow reflexes and is only ever effective at the net because of his huge serve, which sets him up nicely. But even then, if he doesn't put away that first volley, he's usually in trouble on the next shot.

Come on, come on. Seriously, do you think andy is a net player?

If you watch some of his matches against Federer you will see that everytime or almost everytime that he comes up to the net, he gets killed by a passing shot cross-court or down the line. If you watch the 2007 Shanghai match, he got killed and lost a lot of points. Also in the Australian Open Kohlschivber killed him with his backhand passing shots. Roddick should be a baseline player and only come to the net when he's sure he can put it away. Mauresmo isn't that good at the net but is definently better than Roddick.

In her prime Mauresmo was much better at approach shots and net game. She had textbook drop volleys on either wing, but I dont recall her using many drive volleys. She excelled at dive and pickup volleys but would miss key drive volleys. Right now though she doesnt have the confidence on her approaches, serve or anything to even compete among the WTA elite.

Interesting use of Roddick since I know why he was chosen, could it be to get more responses? You could have used Sharapova and would probably get the same response from some people, you know they walk on water in some eyes. Shahrukh Khan, on the other hand has maintained his numero uno position in the industry for quite some time now. Shahrukh Khan, who is friends with all the leading filmmakers of the country be it Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhanasali, Farah Khan, Farhan Akhtar, etc. has delivered hits after hits to stay at the top.

Mauresmo. She has better feel and touch.

Now, when it comes to getting to the net, Andy Roddick. He has one of the biggest shots in men's tennis (the serve), and he has more firepower. Amelie Mauresmo, though, plays smarter to get to the net. She uses better tactics.

Roddick may get to the net better, but Mauresmo can do more once she gets there.

This is, of course, when Mauresmo is at her prime. When she's not at her prime, her net game falls to pieces.

On a relative level, because straight up Roddick is going to be better at the net for his strength and reflexes, Mauresmo has much better hands. If Roddick were a woman, his volleys would be half as good as hers if one were to be generous.

No question it is Mauresmo. If Roddick can volley, he would have won a couple of Wimbies already. All he has is a big serve, that's pretty much it :)

Mauresmo because she has better technique and hands. Roddick has ugly volleys and tends to leave them kind of high which allows the other player to pass him. Roddick has a better dive volley because women don't really like to dive.
