Are you a conservative Democrat or a liberal Republican and what do you think the difference is between the 2?

I am a registered Democrat, however when I speak in conversations people think I am a Republican. However, the democratic party that I grew up belonging to is not the same democratic party in today's world. (I was born in the 50's.)

I am a registered Republican...Originally, I registered as an independent but I didn't like not being able to vote in the primaries...I don't consider myself to be really connected to any party per say...I suppose if I had to pick a party that I identified with the most then I would be considered to be a Democrat...

And I don't think there is a defining difference between the two (liberal conservative and conservative liberal...) but that's just my personal opinion...

Be very careful of any answer you get to this question. Democrats (liberals)- develop taxes to spend on amenities (healthcare, training, police). Republicans (conservatives)- do no longer develop taxes and have faith that persons can settle on what to spend their money on. that's somewhat, rather simplified (and does not incorporate something approximately distant places affairs), whether that's a start up... and likewise be conscious that those words mean distinctive issues interior the U. S. than they do interior something of the international. American politics are very distinctive whilst in comparison with different democracies. that is worth noting that interior the classic, 'relax of the international' experience, George Bush isn't a conservative. A (non-American) conservative may well be very reluctant borrow money to spend on wars (that's no longer making a judgement approximately Iraq, with the help of how). Conservatives in virtually the different u . s . care greater approximately financial duty than social themes (e.g abortion, stem cellular study). ecu conservatives, like the British Conservative social gathering and the German Christian Democrats attempt to distance themselves from the present Republican social gathering management. Governor Arnie is a good occasion of what something of the international thinks of as a conservative.

In some ways I am liberal, but in many ways, especially in my own life, I am quite conservative. I was born in the 60's and I see what you're saying about the parties. Both of them have changed and that's why I believe a new party will emerge soon. I mean one that will be able to make one of the two current parties seem like a third party.

Well, I was a Republican, but realized their overall preoccupation with big business and catering to the rich did not appeal to me.

The Dems, are a little too welfare oriented as a party for my liking too, although this is closer to Christian behavior than the aforementioned.

How about Independent? Obama seems to be able to gather support from all parties. I am banking on this being the start of a better America, with the lives of all Americans of all parties improved upon.

The correct term is social conservative.. there is no such thing as a liberal conservative

A social conservative is someone who believes in less government, lower taxes, freedom of choices and ensuring those less fortuante should be given the tools and opportunites to succeed in America.

A moderate democrate, (there are no conservative democrats) believe that the government should be more involved in the markerplace, the government should pass laws to protect people against themselves... a moderate democrat also believes the same but only to a lomoted degree.

Me? I'm a social conservative and could never vote for a party that want's to expand the government role in everyone's daily affairs.

Depends on where you live. In southern Indiana Democrats have won the congressional seats for years but if you think that they are Ted Kennedy clones you would be mistaken.

They reflect the values of the people they represent regardless of the party.

Neither party is what it use to be.

They have BOTH been hijacked by people who don't truly represent the people in this country.

That is part of the reason this country is becoming so divided on everything.

It's either FAR FAR left....or FAR FAR right....
