2000 Durango won't start unless jumped. Once started the volt meter goes to +18(far right)?

the engine temp goes to the far right as well. When the dome lights go out, a rapid clicking starts from behind the glove box. Truck runs great but won't start after ignition is turned off. Nothing happens when key is turned.

you either have a battery going bad in it or the alternator is going out and running the battery down all the time, take it by any parts store and have them run a check on the battery and the alternator, this way they can tell you which one is good or bad, then you,ll know, good luck.

um yeah your battery is dead and your altnator probably killed it. get a battery and then see if the altnator volts drop if not then have it checked at autozone they do it for free. and if it aint that then its a connection somewhere. just be sure to clean the terminals before u put the new battery.

its the battery cables all corroded all the way to the starter and wont start. The alternator is charging the battery at a high output so this means theres a bad ground and battery cable has failed you...thats it.
