How do I treat a kanker sore?

So the other week I had this ulcer on the inside of my lip... it hurt like hell but i decided to sit it out and just let it heal on its own (it took at least a week =[ ).

Now, I have somehow developed what looks like one on the right side of my throat. It really sucks and constantly feels like I have a sore throat or like there's something physically there irritating it. Is there anything I can do?

How do you know it is a kanker sore? Well...anyway -

What are the treatments for canker sores?

Most doctors recommend that patients who have frequent bouts of canker sores undergo blood and allergy tests to determine if their sores are caused by a nutritional deficiency, an allergy or some other preventable cause. Vitamins and other nutritional supplements often prevent recurrences or reduce the severity of canker sores in patients with a nutritional deficiency. Patients with food allergies can reduce the frequency of canker sores by avoiding those foods.

There are several treatments for reducing the pain and duration of canker sores for patients whose outbreaks cannot be prevented. These include numbing ointments such as benzocaine, which are available in drug stores without a prescription. Anti-inflammatory steroid mouthrinses or gels can be prescribed for patients with severe sores.

Mouthrinses containing the antibiotic tetracycline may reduce the unpleasant symptoms of canker sores and speed healing by preventing bacterial infections in the sores. Clinical studies at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research have shown that rinsing the mouth with tetracycline several times a day usually relieves pain in 24 hours and allows complete healing in 5 to 7 days.

    What can the patient do?

If you have canker sores, avoid abrasive foods such as potato chips that can stick in the cheek or gum and aggravate the sores. Take care when brushing your teeth not to stab the gums or cheek with a toothbrush bristle. Avoid acidic and spicy foods. Canker sores are not contagious, so patients do not have a worry about spreading them to other people.

    Vitamin B12

People with recurrent canker sores have been found to be low in vitamin B12. Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, is a water-soluble B vitamin that is important for maintaining nerve cells, producing DNA and RNA (our genetic material), forming red blood cells, helping iron function better in the body, improving immune function, and helping the body withstand stress.

Symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include fatigue, shortness of breath, nervousness, diarrhea, and numbness or tingling in the fingers and toes. People who are at risk for vitamin B12 deficiency are those who have had stomach surgery, follow a strict vegetarian or vegan diet, have certain intestinal infections such as tapeworm or Helicobacter pylori, or have an eating disorder.

Vitamin B12 supplements should not be taken with the antibiotic tetracycline, because it may reduce the effectiveness of the antibiotic.

You can treat a kanker sore with ambasol, warm salt water rinses. but its gonna have to run its course it sould be better after a couple of days keep mouth clean.

  • Well, it might be different. Do you have braces? If you do, you are most likely to get kanker sores. If you don't have braces, that okay too. There is a special product that the dentist use. The product is called "KANKA". It is a slim tube filled with 2% of novacane and numbs the sore. This is inexpensive and it is selled everywhere in the orthodontic section. I hope this helps!

I would try a cup of warm water and 2-3 tablespoons of epsom salt. It will help with the pain, numb it a little and kill bacterias. But, I would definitely go to the doctor.. having continuous sores in your mouth can be the sign of bigger issues.
