Save the boxer?

How come when a dude gets knocked out in boxing they don't rush in to save his life while they are counting him out? Why do they count him out first? I mean maybe he swallowed his tongue or something ?

ages ago boxing was a pure poor mans sport! nearly every match was a blood bath and people got beaten up real bad the whole time!! like the rocky films!! and a film called raging bull! Boxing used to be for the entertainment to see how long two guys could punch each other towards mental health problems!!

But in the late eighties there wasa protest where they were going to ban the boxing sport due to mental illnesses and eaths in the ring! and the fact that if a man dies in the ring it's not murder because the other guy applied for a boxing license and went into the ring knowing the consiquences!

but nowadays in boxing serious injury isn't recalled as much because since there were talks of thee ban the boxing commision had to make a special effort to make sure they are safe! like it's very rare nowadays that you see one man get floored and counted out! if its a big unch the ref will immediatley stop the fight but if the guy seems to be responding and getting up then he will count on and count even when the guys on his feet to make sure he's okay to fight! there's even some cases were the ref will get the boxer to walk in a straight line!

it kind of takes the thrill out of boxing now knowing that a fight will never be a bloodbath because one bad cut and its over! but the boxing commission cant afford to hurt to many people!

Because most of the time it is not a matter of live or death. Many times the boxer gets back up and keeps fighting. Boxing is a quest to push the body to its limits. With any dangerous sport (football, skiing, etc) accidents or death can occur but that is the nature of the contest. If every fight was stopped on a knock down most fights would be boring to watch and no "Rocky" moments would happen if the person knocked down couldn't get back up and keep fighting.
