Look for grains that are more nutritious than bread and rice. I've been eating a lot of quinoa (keen - wa) lately. It has a lot of protein, so it is very filling. It cooks just like rice (2 parts water, one part grain on the stove) and can be miked with things you like. It's nuttier tasting than rice, but really good.

As a teenager, you need good sources of protein and vitamins - eat some dark fruit (black berries, blue berries, cherries, etc) for lots of vitamins. Eat some cheese or tofu or beans for protein. Learn to read labels and cook.

    Good luck.

Cutting out meat from your diet cuts out the major source of protein Eating nuts is the best say to get protien and they are healthy and filling :) Protein is especially important for your growth so keep track of protein also take vitamins, especially the ones that mock the oils that come from fish (because just incase you didnt know, eating fish means you are not a vegitarian) and these are important because it helps your skin and hair. And to stop cravings for certain foods you wont be able to have, try the soy or tofu version, they taste quite good and are also healthier than some things (and ketchup goes with everything :) ) I'm 16 and don't eat meat, i have 3 vitamins per day...um...iron, some mockery of fish oil and zinc. I am 5' 3" like my mother so i dont think it has effected my growth, and im pretty healthy :)

You are going to be horribly malnourished if you don't get over your aversion to vegetables.

Pizza is a good way to go. Also, lettuce wraps. There are plenty of ways to make veggies yummy. If you came over to my house, you would be amazed at how great my food tastes. It's all low-fat and has no animal products in it. My vegetables are freaking awesome! Even children eat them.

Also, you can still eat cheeseburgers. Just use a veggie patty instead of meat. Go to the grocery store with your mother. She can help you pick stuff out.

A vegetarian, by definition, needs to eat lots of vegetables.

That video is just an emotional appeal, & not really typical.

A current case in point is being prosecuted on the news.

You need to get lots of protein, in order to grow up healthy.

You are going to have to learn to like vegetables.

Try quesadillas - flour tortillas sprinkled with cheese and toasted like a grilled cheese sandwich. Flavor them with canned diced chilies. Lentil chili kits can be bought in the grocery store - I add a can of organic mixed beans. There are vegetarian burgers that you can treat just like beef burgers. Tofu hot dogs. Baked potatoes with cheese sauce (and broccoli). A million knids of pasta. Another million soups made with vegetable broth.

    Lots of stuff.

well, honey, you're going to have to get used to liking vegetables.

risotto is one of my favorites. it's a rice dish.

you can season tofu(i find firm to be the best).

or you can add it to any dish in replacement of the meat.

there are some really good recipe books out there for teen vegitarians.

and i think it's awesome that you've decided to do something like this.

it's a really hard challenge but it does make a difference.

well, i'm a teenager vegetarian who doesn't like vegetables too much either.

for snacks, try various fruits & nuts/seeds. breakfast could be things like oatmeal, fruit smoothies, bagels, waffles, pancakes, etc.

you could try tofu. i'm personally not a big fan, but eh.

also, if you're new to the whole vegetarian thing, you could try soy products like morningstar, boca, gardenburger, etc.

for veggies, since i pretty much hate must of them, i'll have them in things like pasta finely chopped up. i'll eat carrots & spinach like this.

maybe you'll enjoy a salad with dressing, and nuts/flax seed?

since i can't cook and i have a wonderful mom, she'll make things like casseroles. first, she'll make a big one with no meat. then, she'll separate it, and add meat to the bigger casserole for her and my dad, and i get the plain, meat free one.

    :]

You know that restaurant Moe's? If you do, try an Art Vandalay. It has beans, cheese, rice, sauce, and very few vegetables. It's delicious.
