There are sixty seconds in a minute, and sixty minutes in an hour so there are 3600 seconds in an hour. That means you are traveling 43 miles per 3600 seconds. So, divide 43 by 3600 and you'll get 0.0119 miles! That's how many miles you'll go in a second! 43/3600 = x/1 0.0119 = x/1 0.0119 = x Hope that helped! : )

1 mile = 5280 feet and 1hr = 60 x60 = 3600 seconds.
1 mile / hour = (5280 feet) / (3600 seconds) = 1.46667 feet/second
therefore 40 MPH = 40 * 1.4667 feet/second = 58.6667 feet/second

do 40 x 5280 =211200 (the feet per hour)
then 60 x 60 = 3600 (the seconds in a minute)
lastly do 211200 divided by 3600 =58.666666

40 miles / hr equal 211200 feet / hour (multiply by 5280)
divide that by 60 minutes in an hour
you get 3520 feet in a minute
divide that by 60 seconds in a minute
you get 58.6666666..... feet/second = 40 miles/hour
