Can California legally secede from the United States?
... based on International Law. And if California did secede would other counties jump in to protect us?
(based on the actions in Serbia, also this domino effect is already starting with Georgian provinces Abkhazia and South Ossetia announcing they will follow Kosovo's lead)
Well if the majority in California changes to Mexican, will that change the argument? Since they will have the majority they can claim they're being mistreated, deported back to Mexico, etc.
For a couple answers remember this is based on International Law, not Americas.

International law is ambiguous on secession and autonomy. You "can", but such capacities are only enforced when there seems to be no major opposition to it by the hegemon or other core powers. Some countries get to secede and rule themselves when countries like the U.S. find it convenient to support "freedom" (though the movement is often led by a militarist regime), though often they end up just being labeled as terrorists and bombed to ****.
So, no, no one would aid California from the international community if it tried to secede.

The answer is more basic than you would think...
Because the North won the Civil War, there can never be a secessionist movement ever again. It gave the Federal Government the right to invade it's own territories when they attempt secession.

Really. California is rubbish? Thanks a lot. California is a fantastic place. Geez. I worked here played here, pay taxes, keep my house and yard clean, am a morale person, who loves the life I have. Modest but happy. Not rubbish. Seems Alaska might want to take out their rubbish soon.

God, that would be wonderful if California left the Union! Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say. Hell, Cali is about as close to socialism that the US has today. You can keep Bezerkly, San Francisco, the bums, over-crowding, the crappy public school system, all the unions and trial lawyers, the thousands of asinine laws, the social workers, the teachers, the high taxes, the sin taxes, the housing market, the smog, etc. PLEASE, CALIFORNIA, DO LEAVE!

Don't get my hopes up.
The United States could use losing some of the Communist law makers that hide in that state.
