In the real world, the art director is the boss on the team or the project, or publication. He/she calls the shots and manages the day to day stuff plus generally makes overall design decisions.
The visual designer is generally a graphic designer for flat or print work, but could also do some interactive design work.
The interactive designer is one who works with online media and needs to have specialized skills in web design, animation, and in the best possible world, user interface design.
