Office 2007 on XP?

One of the computers where I work is using Office 2007 on Windows XP. Everything seems to work fine save for one hitch: Outlook 2007 keeps downloading duplicate emails. I've disabled AV, increased server time outs, removed any messages through telnet and created new accounts. The only thing I have not done is reinstall Office 2007 as the company is unable to find the installation CD's.

Anyone run across this before or have any other ideas?

Update:

-Update 2/24/08 // I checked the 'leave messages on server' and it's not checked so there is no reason that the messages are staying. When logging onto the webside of the mail server, it's only showing one of each message. The account works fine on other computers. This is an isolated incident because this computer is doing it with any account I add to it. I can remove MSO 2007 and downgrade - i'm just trying to avoid that option.

Have you checked if the option to delete files from the server is checked, seems like outlook is not sending the order to the server until the second time, the other possibility is a glitch on your account (server side) that prevents the instruction to be done, I'm 100% sure it is not from outlook thou you may test this change the account; use any other account with pop3 either from the same server and/or from another server, or test the account from another computer, extend the possibilities, hey it's MS who knows.

here in the office we're kind of behind... most of the computers run office 2000 with the exception of outlook, all computers run outlook 2003.

i would recommend doing the same if you can, maybe remove the 07 outlook and use the version everybody else is using
