You dont mention if you are using the onboard sound on the motherboard or a sound card, but you have lost the driver for which ever one it is either way you need to find out the manufacturer of your motherboard or sound card which ever applies, go to the manufacturers web site and download the correct drivers from their download section, or subscribe to an application such as Driver Detective Or driver Agent both are brilliant inasmuch as they scan your pc find all bad or missing drivers and you clic on the icon at the side of the bad driver or missing driver and it automatically downloads and installs the correct driver, The Bonus is both are very cheap to subscribe to and you can do it online in a few minutes.
