What's the easiest lizard for a beginner to get as a pet?

I've been reading about leopard geckos. Any others?

    Hey Poet,

I would also recommend a leapard gecko. Anoles are easy pets, but they require a light source and a humid environment. I also think that a gecko is easier to clean up after because you can just scoop the sand rather than srubbing the walls and chancking out the subtrate.

You can hold a gecko but not an anole. And a gecko will live much longer. But then again an anole only cost $6 and a Leo is anywhere from $20-$99. Depending on the size, species, and location. Anoles also require things to climb on and plants to hide in.

Good luck with your new friend.

i would say a leopard gecko is good. Anoles are good starter lizards too because all you need to do to keep them healthy is spritz them and feed them, also geckos live up to 20+ years with proper care an anoles live up to 3+ years with proper care. To keep a gecko is relatively the same thing but they cost more and you have to spend a lot of money on crickets during the year. The up side on a gecko is that you can take it out of its cage once in awhile without it escaping but with anoles they are fast little guys. so its your chose hope you have a fun time with a lizard.

i would definitely recommend leopard geckos. bearded dragons get too big for most beginners and have extensive dietary requirements to be healthy. for leopard geckos, all you need is a 10 gallon aquarium, under tank heater, hide box, small water bowl, thermometer, substrate (paper towel works great), and a calcium and vitamin powder to dust their food with.

I think the green iguana they are somewhat easy to take care of and only eat vegatables and/or fruit. Or you can get a bearded dragon. They eat some type of insects and almost don't drink water. If you don't want those, there's always the chinose bearded dragon. They need to have lots of water to drink or to have thier bodies submerged. Also they need to be on right temperatures (like around 70 •f) so for my opinion I say the green iguana is a easy animal to take care of. I forgot to mention that green iguanas need to be on 76 to 80 degrees farenhiet. Hope this helps
