about 3 years. up to 5 or 6 if you take really good care of them! although I think thats kinda rare for bettas, it really all depends on living conditions. My friend is on her 4th year with her betta, Floyd.
:) good luck

I agree with some of the others. 3-5 years is a pretty good run for a betta. There are definitely many factors that contribute to that though. To those that say not long...you weren't doing something right (or the pet store sold you a sickly fish).

I really don't know, but we had a male beta that lived for 2 and a half years. We thought that was great for a fish.

Ours usually live about 4 years. I had one that lived almost 6 years though!

I had a betta live for 4 years. Lived in a 5 gallon tank, filter, heater, fed on betta food and bloodworms, regularly weekly 25% water changes.

This question is hard to answer because there are so many variables like age when you bought the fish, housing condition before and now, illness and foods.

hmm not very long...i had a beta fish for christmas last year and it lasted about a week. trust me i did everything to keep it alive. if it looks like its dying, get a glass of really really warm water, and stick the fish in it. i stuck lenny in there and it brought him back to life!! the second time i didn't try that because unfortunatley he turned pink and nasty and i knew he was dead. blech
oh yeah and my friend michelle had a beta fish for 5 years and it just died last week so that tells u they could live for a while!
