AVG or Avast two good free antivirus programs

AVG antispyware free works well on vista with windows defender that comes with the vista package

Ccleaner free good privacy file cleaner

Also Hijackthis this will scan your files for malware,than you can cut and paste your log entry to the below website this will advise you of any malware that may be present,

Also remember to defrag your computer and also you can run a Vista system health report.Go to control panel>system and maintenance>performance information and tools>advanced tools>generate system health report ,This should tell you if you computer is running fine and also give you a report of any issues like low memory driver problems etc.

get avast anti virus and avg anti spyware (both free) and they should sufficiently protect your computer in future.

to rid your system of unwanted spyware/viruses etc:

Run windows defender

run antivirus and anti spyware scans

Download and run microsoft's malicious software removal tool.

use disk cleanup and disk defragmentor on your hard drives

finally use a piece of software called smitfraudfix (follow instructions carefully)

these things are all free and your computer should be running perfectly after all that.

I've got Norton 360 it works well with Windows Defender. Just remember to run it at least once a week.

I use Eset NOD32 antivirus. It is a very good antivirus program. AVG Free is also good, not as good at NOD32, but it is free. I would download that as well as spybot search and destroy and run scans on your PC.
