Help connecting PC to Plasma TV (VGA and DVI connections)?

Hi all - hope someone can help! I've recently purchased a Samsung PS42Q97HD TV which has a VGA connection at the back of it to connect it to a computer. This worked fine with my old PC, however I now have a new one which only has a DVI connection. I've found a converter which allows my monitor to work (albeit the picture is sometimes a little fuzzy) but my TV will not recognise this mode. Is there anything I can do to connect the PC's DVI mode to the VGA connection on the TV? Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

You will have to reduce the resolution on you graphics setting to vga lvls as the pc is telling the telly to show more pixels than it is capable of . 640 by 480 will give a result.

You can try a DVI to HDMI cable. For the VGA connection set PC Display as 1024 x 768 at 60 Hz and try that.

Not really...there's nothing you can do, because the VGA to DVI converter NEEDS an EDiD....

Without it your Samsung TV thinks it's built to pirate TV Shows and stops it from displaying....

You've heard of HDCP on HDMI....

Well Hi Definition Copyright Protection was born on DVI....

And the manufacturer needs to get his VGA - DVI adaptor ok'd, so they can install an EDiD, which is nothing more than a identifier.

Now...as for those VGA to DVI cables....DON'T

Your DVI is DIGITAL and your VGA is not....and you still get screwed by HDCP no matter what....

Since your only good output on the 9200 is VGA, and your TV is HD, you will need to use it. 1. Get a 1 to 2 VGA "Y" adaptor so the 9200 can feed both the TV and the monitor. 2. Get a "stereo mini" to "RCA pair" cable for sound. Connect the mini side to the PC and the RCA side to your Onkyo on an auxillary input. Voila! (I see a trip to Radio Shack in your future...)
