My thoughts on it from earlier.

My guess is that fans might have wanted to see him skate onto the ice and wearing skates without full gear would look too figure skatey.

Gainey is definitely deserving of having his number retired. Are the only great players the ones who score goals? Without a good checker, the other team scores more goals and turns your 3-2 win into a 3-4 loss. I said earlier today on here that checkers and penalty killers don't get the recognition they deserve from the masses.

How can Gainey fit in with the likes of The Flower, the Rocket, the Pocket Rocket, the Roadrunner et al when he doesn't even have a nicname? Just Bob, not even Bobby. Hmmph.

Getting hard to find a usable number in Montreal. That leaves No.s 3,6,8 11,13,14,15,and 17 as the only numbers under 20 not retired by the Habs.

Mabey Mr. Bob lost track of his place in the calendar. I predict that's also what happened to many ill-fashioned celebrities out there. I find it strangely entertaining to read the comments on there clothes though.. Not to be mean or anything. its just amusing

There aren't many numbers left that aren't being worn to retire so they'd better stop soon.
